How To Be A Shooting Star

Close your eyes. What do you see? I see stars, millions of stars, stretching and disappearing across the darkness. They never stop - constantly on my mind and the back of my eyelids. I believe it to be a message from the universe and this is me decoding it for you:

Literally and figuratively, be impossible to touch. We are all aching to be understood - physically, spiritually, mentally, and we forget about the beauty, the magic, and the power that lies behind time. Be admired from afar, learn about another person from a distance, keep your space. The only ones who are allowed to touch our bodies or our hearts are the ones who stay, who care, who will wait.

"Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come for miles to watch you burn" - J Wesley

Do exactly what you love, and if that's dancing on a table at the bar, staying in bed and watching Mad Men for the second time around with 50 candles burning, writing poems, practicing your headstand, painting, singing, laughing - do it with all of your might. Do not be sorry. Let them watch you.

Be present. Surrender. Listen to every word in a conversation. Watch the way his lips move when he talks, when he tells a joke. Open your heart fully, remove yourself completely and try your best to understand where another human is coming from when they speak to you. Cry when you need to and smile every second in between.

Think bigger. Think out loud. Set tremendous goals and have zero expectations. Know that happiness is a conscious effort that has to be actively pursued every single day. It is not given, it is earned; and it will never be a final destination, rather a glorious pursuit, ever-changing, shimmering.

Never compare yourself to any other. You are on your own journey, from your own universe, made up of your own atoms. Nothing ever was and nothing ever will be. Never stop. Never slow down. Make them mark their calendars for you and then light up the entire sky.

You are so unbelievably bright. Blinding, magnetic, glitter, tears, first kisses on the dance floor, once in a lifetime. You do not come around often, you are a reunion after weeks of passed time, ever expanding, a forever student of the universe, and I love watching you. Put goodness into the world, see goodness, accept everyone and love everything. Do not stop moving and burn for all eternity. Be a comet. Be a comet. Be a comet.

love always, danielle

FAVORITE SHOOTING STAR QUOTES

"Life is fleeting. And if you're ever distressed, cast your eyes to the summer sky when when the stars are strung across the velvety night. And when a shooting star streaks through the blackness, turning night into day... make a wish and think of me." - Robin Williams

"I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star. Everyone stops, points up and gasps "Oh look at that!" Then- whoosh, and I'm gone...and they'll never see anything like it ever again... and they won't be able to forget me- ever." - Jim Morrison

"Summer romances end for all kinds of reasons. But when all is said and done, they have one thing in common: They are shooting stars-a spectacular moment of light in the heavens, a fleeting glimpse of eternity. And in a flash, they're gone." - Nicholas Sparks

"I like to consider myself a star - a star, that when you look in the sky, it's always there. And on a clear night... a shooting star comes by, and get a little thrill, and you make a little wish. You need both types of stars, the shooting and the constant stars. The heavens include them all." -James Belushi
